energy is not created in the ecosystem, it is only converted from 1 form to another .
On an average about 1% of the sun's energy falling on the leaves is used by the plants in the process of photosynthesis ans stored as good.
there is a continuous transfer of food from 1 trophic level to the next trophic level of organisms in a food chain.
at each trophic level, some energy is utilised for their metabolic activites like respiration, excretion and growth.
According to the 10% LAW (given by Raymond Lindeman) - only 10% of energy entering a particular level of trophic level is available for transfer to the next higher trophic level.
