Given:

✰ Total number of boutiques of flowers sold = 90

✰ Percentage of boutiques of flowers sold in the morning = 30%

To find:

✠ How many were sold in the afternoon?

Solution:

❖ First we will find the number of boutiques of flowers sold in the morning by converting the percentage into decimal number then we will substract the number of boutiques of flowers sold in the morning from total number of boutiques of flowers sold to get the number of boutiques of flowers sold in the afternoon.

To convert the percentage of boutiques of flowers into number of boutiques of flowers we will use equation given below,

y = P% × x

Here,

  • y is the decimal or the resulting number
  • P% is the percentage
  • x is the total

Now,

  • 30% of 90
  • 30/100 × 90
  • 3/10 × 90
  • 3 × 9
  • 27

The number of boutiques of flowers sold in the morning = 27

Now,

The number of boutiques of flowers sold in the afternoon = Total number of boutiques of flowers sold - The number of boutiques of flowers sold in the morning

  • The number of boutiques of flowers sold in the afternoon = 90 - 27

  • The number of boutiques of flowers sold in the afternoon = 63

The number of boutiques of flowers sold in the afternoon = 63
