Answer:

The total energy cost per annum will be Rs 360

Explanation:

Given cost of 1 Kwh = Rs 3

Total power consumption in a tubelight = 40 + 10 = 50 w = 0.05 Kw

Number of hours the tubelight operates in a day = 8 hrs

=> Total Kwh consumed in a day = Kilowatts x Hours

= 0.05 x 8

= 0.4 Kwh

Total number of days in a year the tubelight operates = 300

=> Total Kwh consumed in a year = 0.4 x 300

= 120

=> Total cost of tubelight operation = 120 x 3 = 360

Hence the total energy cost per annum will be Rs 360

A fluorescent tube light consumes 40 w for the tube and 10 w for choke. If the lamp operates for 8 hours a day for 300 days in a year, calculate the total energy cost per annum if the energy cost is rs.3/- per kw

Consumption of tube light = 40w + 1ow = 50 w

Consumption in a day(8hr) = 8 * 50 = 400 w

Consumption in 300 days = 300 * 400 = 120000 w

1kw = 1000w

120000w = 120 kw

Energy cost = rs 3 per kw

Total Energy cost  = 120 * 3 = Rs 360
