The time taken by the bus to cross the flyover will be equal to  (X+Y)/v

Explanation:

Given,

  • The total length of the flyover is X metre
  • The total length of the bus will be equal to y metre.

this means that the entire flyover will be crossed when the entire length of the flyover along with the length of the bus will be covered. In other words the extreme end of the bus should also cover the extreme end of the flyover.

Hence the resultant distance ( x+y) m

It is given that the the speed is equal to v metre per second.

Time = Distance / velocity

= (X+Y)/v
