The other organism then, will not be able to find food for himself and the whole food chain would be unbalanced.

A food chain consists of several organisms. Suppose one of the organisms in the chain disappears, there will be a great effect on the entire bunch of organism in that ecosystem because the entire ecosystem or the organism in the food chain collapses because of the niche created.  

For example in a grassland food chain if the rabbits disappear totally then there would be overproduction of grasses, whereas there would be a decline in the carnivores animals which would feed on a rabbit. Thus the balance of the entire system is at risk.
