A food storage locker requires a refrigeration system of 2400kJ/min. Temperature limits of the sys’m is 263K and 303K. refrigerant is R12 and is subcooled by 60C in condenser and superheated by 70C in the evaporator. The compressor is two cylinder single acting with stroke equal to 1.25 times the bore and running at 1000rpm. Take Cpl=1.235 kJ/kg K & Cpg=0.733 kJ/kg K. Determine: i) RE produced by per kg of the refrigerant, ii) mass flow rate of refrigerant per min, iii) theoretical volume swept by piston per min, iv) power required by the system, v) heat rejected in condenser per min, vi) dimension of the cylinders. The relevant properties of R12 are given below:
At263K: hf=26.9, hg=183.2kJ/Kg, sf=0.108, sg=0.702 kJ/Kg K; vg=0.0767m3/kg;
And At303K: hf=64.9, hg=199.6kJ/Kg, sf=0.2399, sg=0.6854 kJ/Kg K; vg=0.0235m3/kg.

Answer:

Explanation:

1178.25D3=0.8236

Or D3=0.82361178.25=0.00070

Therefore D=0.0887 m=88.7 mmm (Ans)

And L=1.5D=1.5×8807=1333mm (Ans)
