A football of mass 0.5 kg is kicked by a player with velocity 5m/s before reaching other player of his team. He returns it by kicking, along its original path with velocity 6m/s. Calculate the change in linear momentum of the football due to second kick.

Explanation:

at first kick the velocity was 5 m/s.....and after the second kick its velocity increased by 1 m/s. Hence the change in velocity is 1 m/s.

delta v= 1m/s

mass = 0.5 kg

hence,

momentun(p)=m×v

=1 ×0.5= 0.5kg m/s
