A force 40N is applied to a body. If the of action of the force makes an angle of 45 degree with the direction of displacement of the body, then calculate the amount of work done, when the body is displaced by 2m.

Explanation:

The force and displacement both are vector quantities . The work done is the dot product of these quantities

Thus W = F . S = F S cosθ , where θ is the angle between force and displacement .

In this case F = 40 N , S = 2 m and the angle between them is 45 degree

Therefore Work W = 40 x 2 x cos 45 = 56 J
