A force 5 N gives a mass m1, an acceleration of 10m/s2 and a mass m2 an acceleration of 20 m/s2 What acceleration would it give if both the masses were tied together ?

Here m1= F/a1 = 5/10 = 0.5 kg
m2= F/a2 = 5/20 = 0.25 kg
When they are connected together
a(net)=F(net)/M(net)= 5/(0.5+0.25) = 5/0.75 = 6.67 m/s^2
