m1= f1/a1
so m1= 5/8 kg
so, m1= 0.625 kg

now, m2= f2/a2
so m2= 5/24 kg
so, m2= 0.208 kg

adding m1 and m2,
0.625+0.208
=0.833 kg

now f= 5N, m= 0.833kg
so, a= f/m
so a= 5/0.833
that is, 6.0024 m/s^2 or roughly 6 m/s^2
