force = mass × acceleration
= 12 kg × 2 m/sec^2
= 24 newton

Riya09: lets take the velocity of the body at 1 sec before it came to rest, as initial velocity
Riya09: which is 2m/s
Riya09: the time taken for the change of velocity is 1 sec
Riya09: so acceleration = (0 - 2) ÷ 1 m/sec^2 = 2 m/sec^2
Riya09: hope you get clear
