F=W
W=MA
that is the answer

vasu975: but the answer is kD^2/2 + MaD

From force equation,the value of external force at any instant of time,F= kx+ma where x is free end displacement of spring at a time.

Since variable force is involved ,let us take small displacement dx. Then work done will be

dW=Fdx=(kx+ma)dx

In integrating

W= 1/2KD^2+maD
