Given :

• Force applied (F) = 0.5 N

• Area (A) = 250 cm² = 0.025 → 0.025 m²

 \sf {  1 \:  {m}^{2} = 10000 \: {cm}^{2}}

 \sf {  1 \:  {cm}^{2} = \dfrac{1}{10000}\: {m}^{2}}

 \sf {  250 \:  {cm}^{2} = \dfrac{250}{10000} \: {m}^{2}}

 \sf {  250 \:  {cm}^{2} = \dfrac{25}{1000} \: {m}^{2} }

 \sf \red {  250 \:  {cm}^{2} = 0.025 \: {m}^{2}}

[ We changed cm² into m² because SI unit of pressure is N/.]

To calculate:

• Pressure (P)

Calculations :

As we know that,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \star \boxed{\sf{\pink{P = \dfrac{F}{A} }} }

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \sf { P = \dfrac{0.5 \: N}{ 0.025} \: {m}^{2} }

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\sf { P = \dfrac{5 \times 1000 \: N}{ 25 \times 10 \: {m}^{2} }}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \sf { P = \dfrac{5000 \: N}{ 250 \: {m}^{2} }}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \sf { P = \dfrac{500 \: N}{ 25 \: {m}^{2}} }

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

 \boxed { \sf \orange P = 20 \: N/{m}^{2} \: or \: 20 \: Pa}

More Information:

  • Pressure is defined as force applied per unit area.

  • SI unit of pressure is Pa ( Pascal ).

  • 1 Pascal = 1 N/m²

  • If the area is less, pressure will be more.

  • If the area is more, pressure will be less.

  • If force is more, pressure will be more.
