. A force of 10 N acts on an area of 0.1 m2 . The force is kept the same but the area is reduced to half. Will there be any change in pressure? Answer with proper justification.

Answer:

Pressure = Force/Area

In case 1 --›

Force = 10N

Area = 0.1m²

Pressure = 10/0.1

= 100N/m²

= 100 Pa

In case 2 --›

Force = 10N

Area = 0.05m²

Pressure = 10/0.05

= 200N/m²

= 200 Pa

That means pressure got doubled!

Yes. because pressure is inversely proportional to area. Since area is halved, pressure will be doubled.
