a force of 10 Newton gives an acceleration of 2 metre per second square to mass M1 and acceleration of 2.5 metre per second square to mass M2 what will be the acceleration produced when the same force is applied to both the mass is tied together?​

Using Newton's second law,

F = m a

5 = M1 × 10

M1 = 5/10 = 0.5 kg

And

5 = M2 × 20

M2 = 5/20 = 0.25 kg

Total mass = 0.5 + 0.25 = 0.75 kg

Now as per question,

Let common acceleration is a,

F = (M1 +M2) ×a

5 = 0.75 × a

a = 5/0.75 =500/75 = 6.67 m/s²
