a force of 120 N produces an acceleration of 2 m/s² on a mass m1 and 10 m/s² on mass m2. what would be the accleration if both masses are tied together and same force is applied on them

Answer: a=1.67

Explanation: We know that  

F=m*a

therefore m1= f/a1

m1 = 60kg

m2 =f/a2

m2 = 12kg

m1 + m2 = mass => 72 kg and

force =120 N

therefore f = m*a

a = f/m

a = 120/72

a = 1.67
