Answer:

A force of 12N displaces a body through 0.5m in 5 seconds.

  • The work done by the force = 10\ J
  • The power required = 1.2\ J/s

Explanation:

Let  F be the force applied to an object and s be the distance moved by that object by the application of this force.

The work done (W) on the body will be the energy converted or transferred through this process.

The work done can be obtained by the product of force and displacement.

That is,

W = F\times s    ...(1)

Given,

F = 12\ N

s = 0.5\ m

Substituting these values into equation (1),

W = 20\times 0.5 = 6 J

The work done by the force = 10\ J

Power (P) is given by,

P = \frac{W}{t}     ...(2)

Where w is the work done in joules and t is the times in seconds.

Given,

t = 5\ s     W = 6\ J

Equation (2) becomes,

P = \frac{6}{5}  = 1.2\  J/s

Thus the power required = 1.2\ J/s
