Given :-

  • A force of 4 N acts on a body of mass 2 kg for 4 sec. If the initial velocity is zero.

To find :-

  • Velocity when the force

stops acting.

Solution :-

  • Force (F) = 4N

  • Mass (m) = 2kg

As we know that

→ Force = mass × acceleration

→ F = m × a

→ 4 = 2 × a

→ a = 4/2

→ a = 2m/s²

Hence, acceleration of a body is 2m/

Now,

  • Initial velocity (u) = 0

  • Time taken (t) = 4 sec

According to first equation of motion

→ v = u + at

→ v = 0 + 2 × 4

→ v = 8m/s

  • Another method :-

→ F = m(v - u)/t

→ 4 = 2(v - 0)/4

→ 4 = v - 0/2

→ 4 × 2 = v - 0

→ 8 = v

→ v = 8m/s

Therefore,

  • Velocity when the force stops acting i.e 8m/s

More to know :-

  • s = ut + ½ at² (second equation of motion

  • v² = u² + 2as (Third equation of motion)
