Given:

  • A force acted = 4N
  • Change in velocity is 8m/s to 10m/s
  • Time taken to change velocity = 5s

To find:

  • Mass of body

Solution:

Firstly finding acceleration

We know that

a = (v - u)/t

Where

  • a : acceleration
  • v : final velocity
  • u : initial velocity
  • t : time

Here ,

v = 10m/s , u = 8m/s & t = 5s

Substituting we have

→ a = 10 - 8/5

→ a = 0.5 m/s²

Now , finding mass of the body

Force = mass × acceleration

4N = m × 0.5

4/1/2 = m

m = 8kg

Hence , mass = 8kg

Answer:-

Given:-

  • Force exerted (F) = 4 N
  • Initial velocity (u) = 8 m/s
  • Final velocity (v) = 10 m/s
  • Time it takes (t) = 5 s

To Find:-

Mass (m) of the particle.

___________...

Equations to be used here:-

  1. F = ma (a is unknown)
  2. a = (v - u)/t

Value of (a) :-

a = (v - u)/t

a = [(10 - 8) m/s]/5s

➵ a = (2 m/s)/5s

➵ a = 2/5 m/s²

a = 0.4 m/s²

Finding mass (m) :-

F = ma

ma = F

m = F/a ...(To be used)

m = (4 N) / (0.4 m/s²)

➵ m = (4 kg m s^-2)/(4/10 m s^-2)

➵ m = 4 kg × 10/4

m = 10 kg

Mass of the object was 10 kgs.
