m,, an acceleration of 10 m s2 and a
mass m, an acceleration of 20 m s?
What acceleration would it give if both
the masses were tied together?

Answer:

6.66m\s2

Explanation:

FOR M,, :

force = mass × acceleration

5N = m,, × 10m\s2

m,, = 5\10

=0.5 g

FOR M, :

5N = m, × 20m\s2

m, = 5\20

= 0.25 g

if both are tied together

mass = 0.5 +0.25

=0.75g

and force = 5N

f = m × a

5 = 0.75 × a

acceleration = 5\0.75

= 6.66 m\s2
