The force applied on body[F]= 5 N.

The weight of a body is the product of mass with the acceleration due to gravity. Mathematically it can be written as-

                      weight W= mg   where m is the mass and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

We have been given W= 9.8 N.

We\ know\ that\ g=9.8\ m/s^2

Hence the mass of the body  [m]=\frac{W}{g}

                                                       =\frac{9.8}{9.8}\ kg

                                                       =1.0 kg

We are asked to calculate the acceleration of the body.

As per Newton's second law, we know that force F=ma  where a is the acceleration of the body.

The acceleration of the body   a=\frac{F}{m}

                                                        =\frac{5N}{1kg}

                                                        =\ 5\ m/s^2    [ans]
