a force of 5 Newton produce an acceleration of 4 metre per second square on a mass M1 and acceleration of 24 metre per second square on a mass M2 what acceleration would the same force provide if both masses are tied together.

Explanation:

F = M1 a1

M1 = 5/4 kg

similarly

M2 = 5/24

Now if both masses are tied together then total mass becomes M1 + M2 = 5/4 + 5/24 = 35/24

force remains same i.e 5 N

therefore

F = M a

5 × 24/35 = a

a = 24/7 m/s^2 = 3.42
