a force of 500 N is applied on a moving car of mass 1000 kg. Now the car come to rest within the distance of 64 m .Find the initial velocity and time taken by the car to come to rest.​

u (initial velocity) = 8m/s.

t = 16 sec.

Explanation:

F= 500N

m= 1000kg

*F= ma. (a=acceleration)

a= F/m= 500/1000= 1/2.

s= 64m

v (final) = 0m/s

a =-1/2 m/s (sq). (Since, the car comes to rest, implies- decelerative case of motion)

 {v } ^{2}  = u {}^{2}  + 2as

(Newton's third eqn. of motion)

0=u+2(-1/2)(64)

u = √64 =8m/s.

u=8m/s.

v = u +at

0 =8 +(-1/2)t

t=8×2 = 16sec.

t= 16 sec.
