\huge\fcolorbox{black}{lime}{AnsweR:}

3.2 m / sec²

\bold{ExplanatioN:}

Given :

Acceleration a = 16 m / sec²

Mass m = 0.5 kg

We know :

F = m a

= > F = 0.5 × 16 N

= > F = 8 N

We have acceleration of another body = 4 m / sec²

= > m' = F / a

= > m' = 8 / 4 kg

= > m' = 2 kg

When both the bodies are fastened M = m + m'

= > M = 0.5 + 2 = 2.5 kg

Now acceleration :

a' = F / M

= > a' = 8 / 2.5 m / sec²

= > a' = 3.2 m / sec²

Hence we get the required answer.
