Acceleration in first body = 16 m/s2
Mass of the first body. = 0.5 kg
Force = Mass * Acceleration
Force = 0.5* 16 = 8 N
now in the second body,
Acceleration produced = 4 m/s2
Mass = Force/Acceleration
= 8/4= 2kg mass
Now when combined,
Total Mass = 0.5+2 = 2.5kgs
Acceleration produced = Force/ mass
= 8/2.5
= 3.2 m/s^2.
Hope this helps.
