Answer:

acceleration = 0.5m/s^2

Explanation:

a = F/ m=1.5..........(1)

if 3 disk are tied m' = m +m+m = 3m

if same force applied

new acc = a' = F/ m'= F/3m......(2)

putting value of F/ m from eq 1 in eq 2

a' = a/3 = 1.5/3 = 0.5 m/ s^2

Given :-

A force produces an acceleration of 1.5 m/s² in a disk .Three such disks are tied together and the same force is applied on the combination.

To Find :-

Acceleration of combination of three disks

Concept Used

Newton's Second Law

\bf \bigstar \;\; F=ma

  • SI unit of Force is Newton
  • SI unit of mass is kg
  • SI unit of acceleration is m/s²

Solution :-

  • A forces applied to a single disk which is now applied to three such disks tied together

  • The force has same magnitude in both the situations

\begin{lgathered}\rm \bigstar \;\; F_1=F_2\\\\\implies \rm m_1a_1=m_2a_2\\\\\rm Here\ ,m_1=m\ \& \; m_2=3m\ [\; Mass\ of\ three\ disks \; ]\\\\ \rm a_1=1.5\ m/s^2\ \& \; a_2=?\ m/s^2\\\\\implies \rm m(1.5)=(3m)a_2\\\\\implies \rm 1.5\ m=3m\ a_2\\\\\implies \rm 1.5=3a_2\\\\\implies \rm \dfrac{3}{2}=3a_2\\\\\implies \rm a_2=\dfrac{3}{2 \times 3}\\\\\implies \rm a_2=\dfrac{1}{2}\\\\\implies \rm a_2=0.5\ m/s^2\;\; \bigstar\end{lgathered}

So , acceleration of the combination of three disks is 0.5 m/s²
