Answer

  • Acceleration = 0.5 m/s²

Given

  • A force produces an acceleration of 1.5 m/s² in a disk.Three such disks are tied together and the same force is applied on the combination

To Find

  • Acceleration of combination of three disks

Concept Used

  • Newton's Second Law

\bf \bigstar \;\; F=ma

  • SI unit of Force is Newton
  • SI unit of mass is kg
  • SI unit of acceleration is m/s²

Solution

Here , a force produces an acceleration of 1.5 m/s² in a disk .

Same force is applied to the combination three such disks .

We need to find the acceleration produced .

Since , both forces are same . So ,

\rm \bigstar \;\; F_1=F_2\\\\\implies \rm m_1a_1=m_2a_2\\\\\rm Here\ ,m_1=m\ \& \; m_2=3m\ [\; Mass\ of\ three\ disks \; ]\\\\ \rm a_1=1.5\ m/s^2\ \& \; a_2=?\ m/s^2\\\\\implies \rm m(1.5)=(3m)a_2\\\\\implies \rm 1.5\ m=3m\ a_2\\\\\implies \rm 1.5=3a_2\\\\\implies \rm \dfrac{3}{2}=3a_2\\\\\implies \rm a_2=\dfrac{3}{2 \times 3}\\\\\implies \rm a_2=\dfrac{1}{2}\\\\\implies \rm a_2=0.5\ m/s^2\;\; \bigstar

So , acceleration of the combination of three disks is 0.5 m/s²
