"I have a whole bag of tricks," he said, "that contains a hundred ways of escaping my enemies." a "I have only one," said the cat, "and I generally manage with that." Just at that moment they heard the sound of a pack of hounds coming towards them. The cat immediately scampered up a tree and hid herself in the boughs. "This is my plan," said the cat. "What are you going to do?" The fox was scared He started thinking of all the things he could do to escape. He thought first of one way, then of another. He was confused. 1 - the Fox acted haughty and proud - because it thought it could escape anyway it wanted

2 - I think the message the author wants to convey is that you should always be humble and not act proud, the author also is trying to say that humility and simplicity are far greater than pride
