Let X be the numerator and Y be the denominstor

X/Y is the fraction

(X+1)/(Y+1)=4/5

5X+5=4Y+4 or 5X—4Y=—1. (A)

X--5/Y--5 =12 or 2X—10=Y--5

2X—Y=5. (B)

10X—8Y=—2. (1)

10X—5Y=25. (2)

Subtract (2) from (1)

—3Y=—27.

Y=9. Putting value of Y in (A)

We get X=7

So fraction is 7/9
