Heya !!!

Let numerator of fraction be X and denomination of fraction be Y.

Fraction = X/Y

According to Question,

X - 1 / Y = 1/3

3 ( X -1) = Y

3X - 3 = Y

3X - Y= 3 ------------(1)

And,

X / Y + 8 = 1/4

4X = Y + 8

4X - Y = 8 -------(2)

From equation (1) we get,

3X - Y = 3

3X = ( 3 + Y )

X = ( 3 + Y /3) --------(3)

Putting the value of X in equation (2)

4X - Y = 8

4 × ( 3 + Y /3) - Y = 8

12 + 4Y /3 - Y = 8

12 + 4Y - 3Y = 8 × 3

Y = 24 - 12

Y = 12

Putting the value of Y in equation (3)

X = ( 3 + Y /3) = ( 3 + 12/3)

X = ( 15/3) = 5

Fraction = X/ Y = 5/12

Let our Fraction is X/Y
so,
★our 1st equation will be (x-1)/y=1/3
★then our 2nd Equation according to the question will be X/y+8=1/4
Now we Have Both the equations

now you can solve it by any method such as Substitution,Elimination or Cross Multiplication...
