The fraction became \frac{7}{15}.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number in a fraction be  \frac{x}{y}.

Here, numerator is x and denominator is y.

A fraction becomes \frac{1}{3} when 2 is subtracted from the numerator.

i.e. \frac{x-2}{y}=\frac{1}{3}

3x-6=y

3x-y=6 ....(1)

A fraction becomes \frac{1}{2} when 1 is subtracted from the denominator.

i.e. \frac{x}{y-1}=\frac{1}{2}

2x=y-1

2x-y=-1 ....(2)

Solving (1) and (2),

Subtract (1) and (2),

3x-y-(2x-y)=6-(-1)

x=7

Substitute in (1),

3(7)-y=6

21-y=6

y=15

The fraction became \frac{7}{15}.
