Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numerator be x and denominator be y.

Fraction: x/y

ATQ

x-1/y-1 = 13

x+1/y+1 = 12

x-1= 13(y-1)

x+1= 12((y+1)

x-1= 13y-13

x+1= 12y+12

x-13y= -13+1

x-12y= 12-1

x-13y= -12

x-12y= 11

Now by elimination method,

-y= -23

y=23

Now putting y=23 in x-12y= 11

x-12×23 =11

x-276= 11

x= 11+276

x= 287
