Step-by-step explanation:
let the fraction be x/y
now if we add 3 with the nominator and denominator
we get
x + 3 / y + 3 = 8 / 11
=> 11(x + 3 )= 8(y + 3)
=>11x + 33 = 8y + 24
=>11x - 8y + 33 - 24 =0
=> 11x - 8y + 9=0
now, again
if we subtract 3 from numenator and denominator
we get
x - 3/ y - 3 =2 / 5
=> 5( x - 3 ) = 2 ( y - 3 )
=> 5x - 15= 2y - 6
=> 5x - 2y - 15 + 6 = 0
=> 5x - 2y - 9 = 0
by solving the equation by any of the methods,
we get,
x= 3 and y = 3
thus, the fraction is 3/3 or 1.
