A fraction becomes 9/11 if 2 is added to both numerator and denominator if 3 is added to both the numerator and denominator it becomes 5/6.find the fraction?

Ans) Assume fraction x/y

x + 2/y + 2 = 9/11

11(x + 2) = 9(y + 2)
11x + 22 = 9y + 18
11x - 9y = 18 - 22
11x - 9y = -4 ----> equation (1)

x + 3/x + 3 = 5/6

6(x + 3) = 5(y + 3)
6x + 18 = 5y + 15
6x - 5y = 15 - 18
6x - 5y = -3 -----> equation (2)

let equation (1) and (2) -->

11x - 9y = - 4 ---> equation (1) ×6
6x - 5y = - 3 ---> equation (2)×11

66x - 54y = - 24
66x - 55y = - 33
- + +
1y = +9
y = 9
than put 9 in equation (2)-->

6x - 5y = - 3
6x - 5 × 9 = - 3
6x - 45 = - 3
6x = - 3 + 45
6x = 42
x = 42/6
x = 7

x/y = 7/9
