Let the fraction be x/y

Now it's given that when 1 added to both numerator and denominator fraction becomes 4/5

ie.

x+1/y+1 = 4/5

5x - 4y + 1 = 0. ......eq 1

Now when 5 is subtracted from both numerator and denominator fraction becomes 1/2

ie.

x-5/y-5 = 1/2

2x - y - 5 = 0. .........eq 2

Solving eq 1 and eq 2 we get

x = 7

y = 9

Therefore the fraction is 7/9
