Resistor is used to convert energy to heat, helps in reducing the amount of voltage passes through a wire; even wire itself is resistor but with less resistance.

if they are connected in series it will offer more resistance, so that we will add them for getting total resistance.

if they are connected in parallel they will offer less resistance, so that we'll do the ratio between sum and product of the resistances.

V = I×R

a). series : RI+R2+R3

Parallel: 1/R1+1/R2+1/R3

b). v= 3 v

R1=R2= 12 ohms

I= v/r = 3/12 = 1/4
