Marine water has many types of salts dissolved in it. when amoeba is put in marine water, the salts present in the water make it less concentrated than the concentration of water inside the amoeba cell. When the concentration of water is more inside the cell, then the process of exosmosis takes place because of which the water inside the cells of amoeba go out. This causes amoeba to shrink.
