Given: Cost Price is Rs. 500 , loss % is 10%

To find: How  much should the cost price of the mangoes be reduce?

Solution:

  • Now we have given the cost price as Rs. 500.
  • Loss percent is:

             10% x 500

             10 / 100 x 500

             Rs 50

  • Now the selling price will be:  Cost Price - Loss

             Selling price = 500 - 50

              Selling price = Rs 450

  • Now, The fruit seller wants to gain a profit of 12.5% without changing the selling Price:
  • The profit would be:

             Profit % = 12.5% of 500

             Profit = 12.5 x 5

             Profit = Rs 62.5

  • So he wants to gain a profit of Rs 62.5.
  • So the cost price would be reduced by Rs 62.5

  • Then the new CP would be:

             = 450 - 62.5

             = Rs 387.5

Answer:

          So by Rs 62.5, should the cost price of the mangoes be reduce.
