A fruit seller buys 712 fruit, of which 3/4 are apples. Of all the apples that he bought, 1/3 were found to be rotten . If he sold all the good apples at Rs. 21/4 each. How much money did he receive on selling all the good apples.

SoluTion

_______________________________

total fruits bought = 712

fraction of apples = 3 / 4

so,

no. of apples = 712 * (3/4)

no. of apples = 534

_______________________________

fraction of apples rotten = 1/3

so,

no. of rotten apples = 534*(1/3)

no. of rotten apples = 178

_______________________________

No. of good apples( for sale) = 534 - 178

no. of good apples (for sale) = 356

_______________________________

Cost of each apple = Rs 21/4

So,

Money received

on selling good apples = 356*(21/4)

Money received after sale = 1869 Rs.
