He sells 45% then now he has 100-45 = 55% oranges.

Also, Given that : He has 440 oranges left.

Let, originally he had x oranges.

Now, according to the question :

x =  \frac{440 \times 100}{55}  \\  \\  =  > x = 800

So, originally he had 800 oranges.
