Given:

A fruit seller sold 10 oranges at Rs. 25 per orange.

He made a total loss of rupees 25

To find:

The cost of each orange

Solution:

The selling price of 1 orange = Rs. 25

∴ The selling price of 10 oranges = 10 × Rs. 25 = Rs. 250

The fruit seller made a total loss on the transaction of Rs 25

We know,

\boxed{\bold{Loss = C.P. - S.P.}}

Now, using the above formula, we get

The cost price of 10 oranges = Loss + S.P. = Rs. 25 + Rs. 250 = Rs. 275

∴ The cost price of 1 orange = \frac{275}{10} = Rs. 27.5

Thus, the cost of each orange is → Rs. 27.5.
