A fruit vendor bought some mangoes of which 10% were rotten. He sold
33 1/3% of the rest. Find the total number of mangoes bought by him initially,
if he still has 240 mangoes with him.
Answers
Let the no. of mangoes bought by a fruit vendor=100
The no. of rotten mangoes =10%of bought mangoes=
10%of 100=10/100×100=10mangoes
The rest mangoes=100-10=90 mangoes
He sold (33 1/3)% of the rest
=(33 1/3)%of 90
=(100/3)/100×90
= 100/3×1/100×90
=90/3=30 mangoes
As per the above assumption,he still have the mangoes=100-(30+10)
(30 is the no.sold mangoes and 10 is the no.of rotten mangoes)
=100-40=60 mangoes
As per the question,
He still have 240 mangoes
When the rest mangoes= 60, the no. of bought mangoes=100
When ,, =1, ,,
bought mangoes=100/60
When the rest mangoes=240,the no. of
bought mangoes=100/60×240
=400 mangoes
Hence ,the total no. of mangoes bought by him=400 mangoes. (ANS)
Answer:
Let the number of mangoes bought by fruit seller initially be x.
Given that 10% or mangoes were rotten
∴ Number of rotten mangoes = 10100 × x
Number of good mangoes = x – no. of rotten mangoes
= x−10100x=100x−10x100=90100x …….. (1)
Number of mangoes sold = 3313% of good mangoes = 1003%
∴ Mangoes sold = 1003×90100××1100=30100x ……. (2)
Number of mangoes remaining = No. of good mangoes – No. of mangoes sold
∴ Intially he had 400 mangoes
