Continuous Function

  • A function whose graph is single curve with out any break
  • A function whose graph is continuous  
  • Function f(x) is continuous at a point a if  \lim_{x \to  a} f(x)=f(a)
  • Graph of continuous function can be drawn without picking up pen/pencil
  • Does not have any abrupt changes in value
  • f(x) = x + 1  is an example of continuous function

Discontinuous Function

  • A function whose graph has at least discontinuity at one point
  • A function whose graph is not continuous  
  • Graph can not be drawn without picking up pen/pencil
