Question :- A galvanometer coil has of resistance 12ohm gives full deflection of current of 3mA . How will you convert it into a voltmeter of range 0 to 18v and ammeter of range 0 to 6A ??

Answer :-

For converting into voltmeter.

Given :-

G = 12 , V = 18

 ig= 3 \times 10 { }^{ - 3}

FORMULA USED :-

R = V/Ig - G

Solutions :-

R = 18 / 3 ×10^-3 -- 12

R = 5988 ohm

For converting into Ammeter.

Given :-

G = 12 , V = 18

 ig= 3 \times 10 { }^{ - 3}

FORMULA USED :-

S = Ig G / I - Ig

Solutions :-

S = 3 × 10^-3 × 12 / 6 - 3 × 10^-3

S = 36 / 5997 ohm
