Given : A garage sells vehicles.

40% of the vehicles for sale are vans.

25% of the vans are red.

The garage has 12 red vans.

To Find : Work out how many vehicles the garage has for sale altogether.

Solution:

Let say garage has vehicle = 100x

40% of the vehicles for sale are vans.

=> (40/100)100x = 40x  are vans

25% of the vans are red.

=> (25/100)40x  = 10x  are red vans

10x  = 12

=> 100x = 120

Hence there are 120 vehicles in the garage for sale
