Answer:

240

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the fraction of total no. of trees be 1.

Fraction of no. of mango trees =1/5

Fraction of No. of litchi trees     = 1/8

Fraction of No. of banana trees   = 1/12

Fraction of No. of guava trees     =1- 1/5 + 1/8 + 1/12

(LCM of 5 , 8, 12 = 120)

                                                   =1-( 24 + 15+ 10)/120

                                                   = 1 -  49 / 120

                                                   = (120 - 49)/120

                                                   = 71/ 120

Let the total total no. of trees be x.

No. of guava trees                       = 142

71/120 *x                                      = 142

x                                                  = 142*120/71

x                                                  =240

Ans.=The total number of trees are 240.
