Step-by-step explanation:

at rupees 8.40 he will sell half score

At rupees 8.40 ×2 he will sell one score

16.8

profit = 16.8 - 12 = 4.8

profit % = gain×100\ C.P.

4.8×100/12

now 4.8 will cancel 12 by 2.5 times and to get the

gain% we have cancel 100 by 2.5

100/2.5

= 40% and.
