Let the rows be x
So the number of trees are equal x
So
 {x}^{2}
So
 {x}^{2}  = 1000
X=
 \sqrt{1000}
X = 10
So 10 trees in 10 rows

Let no. of rows be x
then,
according to question,
No. of rows should equal to no. of columns.

So,
no. of columns will also be x

then,

x \times x = 1000 \\  {x}^{2}  = 1000 \\ x =  \sqrt{1000}  \\ x = 31.62......
Minimum should be 31
and (1000-961) = 39 plants will be left out in this arrangement.
