let the number of rows =x
number of rows × number of columns= total number of plants
x×x=1400
x(square)=1400
 {37 }^{2}  < 1400  <  {38}^{2}

1369<1400<1444
1444-1400=44
therefore we need 44 more plants to make 1400 as a perfect square
therefore answer is 44 plants
