so x^2= no. of plants

therefore number of plants should be a perfect square (as no. of rows and columns cand be in decimals)

1000 is not a perfect .So we need to add some more trees to this number.

The nearest perfect square to 1000 is 1024 .( 32^2)

So she needs 24 more plants to satisfy the condition.
